Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 2/11/2026

These Sequel terms and conditions form an agreement between you and Northstar Digital LLC. They explain the rules for using our dating app and website, and what you can expect from us in return.

Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, or by using the Sequel website or app in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. They apply to everyone who uses the service, whether you are browsing, registering or taking part as a member.

These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is handled, and our Cookie Policy, which describes how cookies and similar technologies are used. Both documents form part of this agreement.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not register or continue to use the service.

Eligibility

Sequel is designed for mature adults who want to meet new people, and it is open only to adults. To use the service you must meet all of the following conditions:

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You are legally able to enter into a binding contract in the place where you live.
  • You have not previously been removed from the service for a breach of these terms.
  • You are not prohibited from using the service under any applicable law.

Sequel is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly allow minors to hold an account. If we learn that a person under 18 has registered, we may remove the account without notice.

Account registration and accuracy

To take part as a member, you create a profile. The quality of the community depends on honest profiles, so you agree to the following when you register and whenever you update your account:

  • Provide information about yourself that is truthful, accurate and kept reasonably up to date.
  • Use real, current photos of yourself. Photos must show you, not another person, an illustration or a generated image.
  • Keep your login credentials confidential and do not share them with anyone else.
  • Hold only one personal account. Accounts may not be created on behalf of another person.
  • Tell us promptly if you believe someone has gained unauthorized access to your account.

You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account. We may ask you to confirm details about your profile, and we may limit or remove an account when information appears to be false or misleading.

Member conduct and prohibited content

What are the rules of using a dating app?

The rules of using Sequel are simple: be honest about who you are, treat other members with respect, and use the service only for lawful, genuine personal connection. Everything listed below is prohibited, whether it appears in a profile, a photo, a message or any other part of the service.

  • Fake, synthetic or AI-generated profiles and photos. Sequel describes a zero-tolerance approach to synthetic content of any kind, including AI-generated profiles and avatars. Profiles must represent a real person.
  • Impersonation. Pretending to be another person, or misrepresenting your identity, age or relationship status.
  • Harassment, threats and hate. Abusive, intimidating, discriminatory or hateful language or behavior toward any member or any group of people.
  • Sexual or explicit content. Sending or posting nudity, sexually explicit material or unwelcome sexual messages.
  • Fraud and requests for money. Attempting to obtain money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, financial details or other valuables from another member, or running any kind of scam.
  • Commercial solicitation and spam. Advertising products or services, recruiting for businesses or groups, or sending repetitive unsolicited messages.
  • Sharing other people's personal information. Publishing or passing on another person's private details, messages or images without their consent.
  • Illegal activity. Using the service to carry out, promote or encourage anything unlawful.
  • Interfering with the service. Attempting to bypass security, scrape data, introduce harmful code or disrupt the way the service operates.

Respect also applies when you leave the app. If a conversation leads to a meeting, you are expected to treat the other person with the same courtesy and to accept a decision not to continue.

Reporting and moderation

If a profile or message concerns you, you can report it using the in-app reporting tool. Sequel describes its reporting system as a way for members to flag suspicious behavior quickly, and says each report is reviewed by its moderation team.

Sequel also describes round-the-clock moderation that supports its approach to fake profiles and harmful content. To keep the community safe and consistent with these terms, we may, at our discretion and with or without notice:

  • review profiles, photos, messages and reports;
  • remove or restrict content that appears to breach these terms;
  • warn, suspend or remove accounts; and
  • cooperate with law enforcement or regulators where we are required or permitted to do so.

Moderation is a combination of tools and people, and no moderation process is perfect. We do not guarantee that every breach, fake profile or harmful message will be detected, or that it will be detected immediately. Reporting remains one of the most useful things members can do to help.

Scam awareness

Never send money to someone you meet online

Do not send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, payment details or financial account information to anyone you meet through Sequel, however well you feel you know them. Sequel's guidance describes this as one of the most common romance scam patterns targeting adults over 50.

Be cautious of urgent or emotional stories that end in a request for help with money. If anyone asks, stop the conversation and report them promptly through the in-app reporting tool.

This guidance is offered to help members make informed choices. It does not replace your own judgment, and Sequel is not responsible for money or property you choose to give to another person.

Intellectual property

The Sequel name, wordmark, design, software, text, graphics and all other materials we provide belong to Northstar Digital LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from them without our written permission.

You keep ownership of the photos, text and other content you submit to your profile. By submitting content, you grant Northstar Digital LLC a limited, non-exclusive license to host, display and process that content for the purpose of operating and improving the service. This license ends when your content or account is deleted, except where copies must be kept for legal reasons or in routine backups for a limited period.

You confirm that you have the right to share anything you submit.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Sequel is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We work to offer a thoughtful, well-run service, but we cannot make promises about outcomes that depend on other people or on factors outside our control. In particular, we do not guarantee:

  • that you will meet anyone, form a relationship or find compatibility with any member;
  • that any profile is accurate, complete or genuine, or that every fake profile will be identified;
  • the conduct, intentions or identity of any other member, online or in person; or
  • that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available.

You are responsible for your own interactions with other members, both on the service and in person. Take sensible precautions: get to know someone before sharing personal details, meet in public places, and let a friend or family member know your plans.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Northstar Digital LLC and its team, partners and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, income or opportunity, arising from your use of the service or from your dealings with other members. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, and you may have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.

Termination

You may stop using Sequel and close your account at any time. Closing your account ends your access to the service, and the way we handle your information afterward is explained in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, put other members at risk, or used the service in a way that is unlawful or harmful to the community. We may also suspend access temporarily for maintenance, security or legal reasons.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including those on intellectual property, disclaimers and governing law, will remain in effect.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the service or to legal requirements. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated date. By continuing to use Sequel after changes take effect, you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of the service, are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction]. Disputes will be handled by the courts of [Venue], unless mandatory consumer protection laws where you live give you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
